About Us

ISIC is a not-for-profit company created by a range of members from the public, private and university sectors. All our members share the belief that the space sector has enormous potential for economic growth – and that this will be achieved by increasing the number of new applications for space-derived data and technologies. The demand created by these new services will, in turn, drive further growth in the development of new space programmes and satellites.

ISIC provides state-of-the-art facilities including:

  • An Operations Centre for satellite mission planning and control
  • A Security & Resilience Unit handling secure data and protecting against man-made threats and natural hazards to space systems
  • A high definition Videowall enabling researchers to explore and visualise data from space
  • An Applications Innovation Centre helping non-space business develop new products and services using space technologies
  • Flexible conference facilities

In addition, we provide access to facilities owned by our member organisations. including the RAL Space Concurrent Design Facility, which allows users to efficiently and effectively design new satellites and instrumentation.

Access to all these facilities is supported by the world-class expertise available through ISIC.

ISIC is based on the Harwell Oxford campus which is also home to the UK ESA Centre, the ESA-STFC Business Incubator, the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, RAL Space and a range of private sector companies. In addition, ISIC has a growing network of member locations throughout the UK including the Universities of Surrey (ISIC-Surrey) and Reading (University of Reading).
